"The stories collected in The Shoes of Moses run the gamut from funny to thoughtful, farcical to analytical, and
each has something genuinely unique to offer. While many short story collections inevitably have their
clunkers, there's not a one in The Shoes of Moses that I'd cut. The tongue-in-cheek style of several pieces
offers a nice counterpoint to Readler's darker fare, and the collection flows nicely between stories. . . I found
myself wishing each story was longer, allowing me to spend a little more time in that world. Several of
the stories are flat-out terrific. . . With interesting hooks, solid execution, and terrific energy behind each
tale, The Shoes of Moses is a good time."
"Blaine C. Readler blows the reader's socks off with a witty and inventive collection of futuristic science-fiction stories [that] raise questions about humanity's role in the universe, make you giggle, and most of all, entertain. . . this collection is recommended not only for science-fiction buffs, but also for others who wonder about the not-yet invented technologies of the future." "Blaine C. Readler is very talented. He combines sci-fi, humor, and suspense to create a one-of-a-kind read. I love it. This book is well written and developed. Each short story is filled with great surprises." |

Ponderable stories about next-generation Predator drones scouting the Mexican border for illegals, a scientist
whose only means of escaping certain death in the Antarctic carries him into the future, robots fooled by Groucho
glasses, interstellar astronauts who draw blood over dessert snacks while the schizophrenic ship computer
eggs them on, and the smartest man on Earth who's dumber than a turnip. Then, there's a whole gaggle of
ponderable stories about aliens: aliens that come to Earth to claim the remains of their deceased Roswell
companions, only to find the captain's head is missing; aliens that come to Earth to recruit space fighter
pilots because their own arms are too short to reach the controls; aliens that try to come to earth disguised
as marbles; and aliens that come to Earth to practice their acting roles as aliens coming to Earth.
Stories to ponder and debate; stories that will change your world.

"This is a most impressive collection -- definitely a must read ... even if it doesn't mention the Three Laws of Robotics."* --Isaac Asimov "Purchase this book and embark on a 2011 Space Odyssey."* --Arthur C. Clarke "I'm glad that I'm not writing anymore. I don't like this sort of competition."* --Robert A. Heinlein * These are notional quotes, i.e., they were never actually expressed by these authors. However, it seems obvious that they would have had they read the book. |
